澳州一名人瑞近日迎來106歲生日，如今仍然身體健壯、活動自如，認為長壽或與自己從不吸煙和飲酒有關，並認為心態也有很大影響，女兒均大讚這位爸爸向來隨遇而安、性格幽默，或許便是他長壽的秘訣。

綜合外媒報道，來自澳州珀斯、1916年出生的Gordon Ewers本月初迎來106歲生日，曾經歷兩次世界大戰，如今再遇上世紀疫症，見證實逾百年歷史發展。即使逾百歲高齡，Gordon也無需以輪椅代步，可以輕鬆自理生活，自行到雪櫃取食物。
雖然很多長壽老人都會有自己的長壽「技巧」，但Gordon卻不以為然，反而認為「與其說我做了甚麼，不如說我沒有做甚麼」，他指自己從不飲酒及吸煙，可能是自己長壽的原因之一。他又認為，其實心態也很重要，形容要「明智地生活，有規律地呼吸、正面地思考及充滿希望地生活」。

除了健康上的建議，Gordon亦分享了自己從經濟大蕭條時期開始養成的生活習慣，就是確保自己收支平衡，而自己一家亦一直沿用此生活方式。Gordon擁有兩名女兒，她們對爸爸長壽並不意外，形容他是位好爸爸，向來都是隨遇而安，非常容易相處，「我們一起做了很多事情，他很有幽默感。」
因為長壽成為新聞焦點，Gordon並沒有因為比大多數人長壽而感驕傲，反而對此心存感激，
「我不會說這是一個成就，只是很開心它降臨在我身上。」
吸煙與壽命長短有關
香港自2013年起連續7年蟬聯全球最長壽地區，2020年男女平均預期壽命分別為82.7歲及88.1歲。港大早前收集高收入國家逾30年死亡個案，對比本港數字，發現港男女平均長壽約1.86至2.5年；而本地心血管疾病、女性癌症患者、吸煙相關疾病死亡率均低於其他地區，逾半男性和三分一女性因低吸煙率得以增壽，反映吸煙與壽命長短有關。
