In your blood

總覺得繪畫才能是與生俱來（in your blood），後天努力會令你更上一層樓，但很難令人由繪畫白癡變成繪畫能人。

Blood本義解「血」，例如，a blood test（驗血）、a blood sample（血液樣本）、lost a lot of blood（大量失血）等等。

Blood有很多引伸意義，上面提到的in your blood，指「（某技能或者個性）與生俱來、家傳」。可以配搭動詞be或者run。例句︰Her mother is an interior designer and her father is a graphic designer, so her design talent is in the blood.（她的母親是室內設計師，父親是平面設計師，所以她的設計才華是與生俱來的。）Innovation ran in his blood. He invented one electronic device after another.（創新是他的天賦，他發明了一個又一個電子設備。）

又例如，blood可以引伸解「血統、家族」。They are related by blood.指「他們有血緣關係。」；He has Chinese blood on his mother's side.指「他母親那邊的家族有中國血統。」Blue blood即是noble birth，「貴族血統」。
