Fabricate

港鐵沙中綫工程被揭鋼筋接駁造假，結構安全成疑。現在，更懷疑港鐵偽造（fabricate）文件。港鐵憑甚麼收取全數高達79億元的沙中綫項目管理費？

動詞fabricate有兩個意思。第一，上文提到的fabricate解「偽造、捏造」，編造故事或者信息等，以欺騙別人。例句︰It is highly likely that the report was fabricated.（該報告很可能是偽造的。）The professor was accused of fabricating research data.（該教授被指控捏造研究數據。）During the trial, he was accused of fabricating the evidence against his company.（在審訊期間，他被指控捏造針對其公司的證據。）「偽造的文件」，英文可以說fabricated documents。

第二，fabricate可以指「製造、組裝」工業產品，尤其是組裝預製組件。例如，These metal pieces are very versatile. They can be fabricated easily into any structures.（這些金屬件非常多用途，它們可以很容易地製成任何結構。）The equipment components required high precision and were expensive and time-consuming to fabricate.（那些器材組件需要高精確度，製造成本昂貴而且耗時。）
