Emaciated

台北竟然有一個年輕媽媽忍心將親生兒子活活餓死。該名兩歲男童極度瘦削（emaciated），僅得六公斤，只有兩個月大嬰兒的體重。

形容詞emaciated解「異常消瘦的、虛弱的（abnormally thin or weak）」，特別是因為生病或極度飢餓。例句︰The boy was so emaciated that the police suspected he might have been suffered from malnutrition for a long time.（那個男孩非常瘦削，警方懷疑他長期營養不良。）Thousands of emaciated children are fighting for their lives in war-torn Yemen.（在飽受戰亂的也門，成千上萬的瘦弱孩子正在為生存而戰。）

要形容「非常瘦」，除了用emaciated一字，可以用skinny，指「瘦得皮包骨的」，帶貶義。例如，He looked awfully skinny and pale.（他看起來非常瘦弱蒼白。）Many supermodels are too skinny and look unhealthy.（許多超模太瘦，看起來不健康。）

也可以用undernourished（營養不足的），來表達「過於瘦削」。例句︰Millions of people in the world are undernourished. We must reduce food waste.（世界上有數百萬人營養不良，我們必須減少浪費食物。）
