Turmoil

家長並不是學業至上，心裏最關心的必然是子女的健康和安全。動盪（turmoil）不斷，導致全港交通持續癱瘓，教育局終於宣布停課四天，家長起碼不用擔心子女在上下課路途上的安全問題，不用擔心他們中催淚彈。

名詞turmoil解「動盪、動亂、騷亂」，混亂、不確定或沒有秩序的狀態--a state of confusion, uncertainty or disorder。Turmoil的意思抽象，所以是不可數名詞。Turmoil的性質有political（政治）、economic（經濟）、religious（宗教）、emotional（情感）等等。例如，Lectures at several universities have been cancelled due to the growing political turmoil.（由於政治動盪不斷，一些大學的課堂已被取消了。）When his girlfriend died, he was in emotional turmoil.（當他的女友去世時，他的情緒混亂不穩。）

組句時，常用句式be in turmoil或者be in a state of turmoil。例句︰Many districts across the city are in turmoil.（整個城市的許多地區都處於一片混亂。）Hong Kong has been in a state of political turmoil for almost half a year.（香港近半年來一直處於政治動盪狀態。）
