天文台｜京士柏氣象站獲世界氣象組織認證 榮登全球首個百年觀察站(多圖)

每到颱風前夕、暴雨之時，香港人對天氣討論總是份外熱衷。這份對氣象的關注，早可追溯至百年前。位於京士柏的天文台高空觀測站在今年6月獲世界氣象組織認證，榮登全球首個獲認證的百年高空觀察站。連同2017年獲認證為百年觀察站的天文台總部地面觀測站，本港在全球約300個百年觀察站中已佔有2個席位。

根據天文台的專題網頁，原來本港早於1921年起已開始高空觀察，當時天文台人員會在尖沙咀總部放測風氣球，再用經緯儀進行追蹤，以計算高空風向和風速，直至1949年才改用氫氣球掛着無線電探空儀測量高空氣溫、濕度和氣壓等數據。

而當年使用的經緯儀、手搖乾濕表、氣球充氣裝置等「高齡」器材，至今仍保存在天文台中，通過當年珍貴的歷史圖片，更可見測量工作的艱難之處，市民可瀏覽天文台專題網頁。

天文台指，認證機制亦旨在表揚能妥善保存歷史資料，和長期觀察數據的氣象站，數據對分析地球氣候變化十分重要，有助推動相關氣候研究發展。
