洗潔精如含可致敏防腐劑，洗碗時雙手或越洗越痕，甚至可致皮膚炎「爛手」。消委會曾測試市面上35款洗潔精，當中6成驗出可致敏防腐劑，即使買標榜「成分天然」、「不傷手」、「性質溫和」的品牌也有機會中招；有14款則不含致敏防腐劑，部分更獲得4.5分總評，值得推介。

越多泡去污力越強？
不少主婦選購洗潔精時，都傾向揀選多泡款式，認為洗滌能力較佳。一般而言，陰離子表面活性劑（anionic surfactants）的起泡能力良好，去油能力亦不錯。消委會過往的試驗結果亦顯示，表面活性劑總量較高的樣本，在試驗所得的洗滌量亦較高。
兩種成份去污力較強
在洗潔精中較常用的陰離子表面活性劑有3種：
- SLS（sodium lauryl sulfate）
- SLES（sodium lauryl ether sulphate/sodium laureth sulfate）
- LAS（linear alkyl benzene sulfonate）
部分洗滌表現的出色品牌以SLS和SLES為主要成分，它們屬成本較低的起泡劑，前者沖洗較容易，後者既有良好的清潔效能，又不會過度去除皮膚上的油脂。不過若使用含有高濃度SLS和SLES的產品後沒有用清水洗淨，殘留在皮膚上，亦有機會對皮膚造成刺激，引致繃緊、乾燥的感覺。反觀洗滌表現較遜色的品牌，其所用的表面活性劑為coco-glucoside、myristyl glucoside和lauryl glucoside等，都是起泡能力稍遜的非離子（non-ionic）表面活性劑，但對皮膚的刺激性較低。
14款不含致敏防腐劑
消委會於2018年曾檢測35款洗潔精，發現有21款驗出可致敏防腐劑MIT、CMIT或BIT，部份聲稱「成分天然」、「不傷手」，或是標榜「性質溫和」、「護膚／滋潤雙手」、「添加滋潤成分」。若經常接觸可致敏防腐劑含量高的洗潔精，可能引致過敏反應，甚至令手部皮膚出現皮膚炎。
消委會驗出有14款洗潔精不含致敏防腐劑，包括8款「一般」配方，2款「濃縮」配方，4款「超濃縮」配方洗潔精，平均每10毫升/克售價由$0.22至$1。
