Bite the bullet

《牛津字典》將bite the bullet定義為「to force yourself to do something unpleasant or difficult, or to be brave in a difficult situation」(強迫自己做一些不愉快或困難的事情,或者在困難的情況下變得勇敢)。

He finally bit the bullet and got a new car.(他終於硬着頭皮買了新車。)

Many companies had to bite the bullet and lay off some of their employees.(許多公司不得不硬着頭皮解僱部分員工。)
