Curb

The government has tightened rules on wearing face masks in closed public spaces in an effort to curb the spread of coronavirus.(政府收緊了在封閉公共場所戴口罩的規定,以遏制冠狀病毒的傳播。)We need to put a curb on our spending during this difficult time.(在這個困難時期,我們需要限制支出。)

Curb用作名詞時,常用句式put a curb on something,指「對某事物的控制」。例句︰The government has put a curb on large gatherings.(政府已限制大型聚會。)Rising coronavirus cases would put a curb on the demand for fuel.(新冠病毒病例的增加將遏抑燃料需求。)
