政府突擊封區封廈，進行限制及強制檢測行動，被轟勞民傷財及擾民。暫時發現陽性的比率甚低，此舉能否有效控制疫情呢？

「勞民傷財」指勞役人民、耗費錢財，濫用人力物力。簡單來說，即是「浪費資源」。因此，英文用a waste of resources指「勞民傷財」。想說明浪費人力和錢財，則可以用a waste of manpower and money。例句︰Random mass testing is a waste of resources.（隨機大規模測試浪費資源。）

Carrie Lam said the ambush lockdowns were not a waste of manpower and money.（林鄭月娥表示，突擊封區並不是勞民傷財。）

常用語go to waste解「被浪費掉」，因未使用又或者無用而浪費掉。例如，You can chuck in any vegetables that you have in the fridge so that nothing goes to waste.（你可以將雪櫃裏的任何蔬菜都塞進去，以免浪費。）

All my efforts spent in the last few years have gone to waste because of an accident.（我於過去幾年所付出的努力，都因為一次事故而浪費了。）
