Backlash

需要多達7成人接種疫苗，方可達到群體免疫，但現時只有4%人口接種了兩劑。雖然政府想加快進度，但是部分市民仍然擔憂疫苗的安全風險。若市民覺得政府逼人打針，只會引來激烈反對（backlash）。

Backlash指「就社會或政治議題、改變、事件的強烈反對、強烈反應」。由於backlash指「反對」，要後接介詞against，點出反對甚麼。例如，The country has faced a backlash against lockdown measures.（那國家的封城措施遭到強烈反對。）There is a growing backlash against the new policy.（對新政策的反對情緒與日俱增。）

名詞backlash可以配搭動詞draw（引起）、spark（引發）、face（面對）、fear（恐懼）等。例如，The government's vaccine bubble plan immediately drew a backlash from the catering industry.（政府的疫苗氣泡計劃立即引起了餐飲業的強烈反對。）The politician feared a fierce backlash from the people against his scandal.（那位政客擔心人民會因他的醜聞而產生強烈的反對。）
