Authorise

疫苗似乎是我們抗疫的最終手段，要提高接種人數至7成，以達到群體免疫，除了鼓勵成年人接種，政府已授權（authorised）降低疫苗接種年齡至12歲。不少國家也有這樣做，畢竟其好處大於風險。

動詞authorise解「授權、批准」，即是給予官方許可（official permission）。Authorise是及物動詞（transitive verb），可以直接後加受詞（object），說明批准甚麼。例如，The government has authorised vaccinations for 12-year-olds and above.（政府已授權為12歲及以上的人士接種疫苗。）

The manager can authorise payments up to $100,000.（那經理最多可授權支付10萬元。）

常用句式authorise somebody to do something，由於授權時，那人還未去做那事情，所以要用to do something，而不用doing something。例句︰The boss has explicitly authorised the manager to use the money.（老闆已明確授權經理可使用這筆錢。）

The singer has authorised his representative to sign the contract on his behalf.（那歌手已授權他的代表替他簽署合同。）
