Self-reflect

人能夠自省（self-reflect）才可以不斷進步，不被淘汰。面對建設性的批評，自省才是正面的態度。

動詞reflect有3個意思。上文提到的reflect解「深思、考慮、認真思考」：think carefully，尤其是指認真思考可能性（possibilities）或意見（opinions）。例如，He is so successful because he always reflects on both his successes and failures.（他之所以如此成功，是因為他經常反思自己的成功與失敗。）I ask that you pause to reflect on the implications of your decision.（我請你停一停下來，思考你下這個決定的影響。）

Reflect也可以具體指「反映（影像）、反射（光、熱、聲等）」。例如，The light reflected off the mirror is too bright.（鏡子反射的光綫太亮了。）The child saw herself reflected in the shop window.（那孩子看到自己倒映在商店櫥窗裏。）

Reflect也可以引申指「反映、顯示」某特定情況或感覺。譬如，The novel reflects the author's faith in the good nature of humans.（這部小說反映了作者對人性本善的信念。）
