Smash

5歲的小朋友在玩具店退後，試圖避開經過的人，不小心碰到價值逾5萬元、高1.8米的「天綫得得B」擺設，以致它倒地破碎（smashed）。展覽方明顯地沒有妥善安放如此脆弱的擺設，實應負上責任。

動詞smash不但指break（打破），還有break noisily（轟然碎裂）和break into many small pieces（碎成許多小塊）的意思，所以常用smash into pieces。例如，The 1.8-metre tall Teletubbies figure fell and smashed into pieces.（1.8米高的「天綫得得B」擺設倒地粉碎。）

Someone smashed my car window and stole my purse.（有人打碎了我的車窗並偷走了我的錢包。）

Smash也可以指「猛烈的撞擊」，造成破壞或傷害。例如，The ship was smashed against an iceberg during the storm.（暴風雨期間，那船撞上冰山。）

The car was out of control and smashed into the shop front.（車子失控撞向了店面。）

Smash可以引伸指「打敗、粉碎」。例如，They will smash the organisation and bring the chance of peace to the region.（他們將粉碎該組織，為該地區帶來和平的機會。）
